The SBU materials helped to convict a heroin smuggler. The court sentenced him to 9 years in prison. SBU officers detained the criminal on attempt to smuggle heroin into the EU.
Law enforcement officers exposed a drug dealer, a citizen of a Middle Eastern country, in March 2019 at the Luzhanka checkpoint in Zakarpattia region. The criminal tried to transport more than 30 kilos of heroin worth EUR 1 million across the state border in his own car. He hid the "stuff" in specially equipped hiding places in the vehicle.
The court found the drug dealer guilty of smuggling of drugs in especially gross amounts and illegal acquisition, storage and transportation of drugs for the purpose of sale.
The court verdict came into force.
