‘DNR’ militant detained by SSU CI convicted to 6 years in prison

A militant of the so called ‘DNR’, detained earlier by the SSU Counterintelligence, who in 2014 killed wounded Ukrainian servicemen, was sentenced to 6 years in prison.

The pre-trial investigation established that this individual, a resident of temporarily occupied Donetsk at the time, voluntarily entered the ‘DNR’ IAF training center in Sloviansk. After a training course, he was appointed the deputy head of the center and trained militants who took active part in hostilities against the ATO forces.

In addition, the criminal participated in artillery shelling of the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Donetsk, Yasynuvata, Dokuchaievsk and Panteleimonivka, guarded military facilities and convoyed detainees and prisoners.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the militant in October 2021, in a hostel in Kyiv, where he arrived from the temporarily annexed Crimea.

Kyiv Shevchenkivskyi District Court found the individual guilty of participation in a terrorist organization and sentenced to 6 years in prison.
