Following SSU’s investigation, recidivist who together with ruscists robbed fellow villagers during occupation sentenced to 10 years in prison
The SSU has collected evidence on another traitor, who collaborated with the enemy during occupation in Kharkiv oblast.
The offender is a 62-year-old resident of Novyi Burluk village with multiple previous convictions for serious crimes.
During the occupation of the settlement, he agreed to become an ‘assistant’ to the russian commandant and helped the ruscists rob homes of locals.
The SSU detained him in September 2022 during stabilization efforts in the liberated areas.
Based on the findings of the SSU’s investigation, the court sentenced the accused to 10 years in prison.
According to the investigation, in the early days of russia’s full-scale invasion the man voluntarily offered his house for ‘cantonment’ of the enemy troops and weapons and ammunition storage.
He also helped the invaders navigate the area and ‘tipped them off’ on what houses to rob.
The ruscists, together with the collaborator, would break into homes and, at gunpoint, take money, cars, household appliances and other property.
In case of resistance, they threatened the victims with murder ‘on the spot’ or imprisonment to a local russian torture chamber.
The occupiers allowed their accomplice take part of the loot and to move freely in the then-occupied district.
Based on the evidence, the court found the offender guilty of aiding the aggressor state (Article 111-2.1 of the CCU).
The SSU Office in Kharkiv region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
