Due to SSU’s efforts, court seizes Medvedchuk’s wife’s property worth over UAH 5.6 bln

Following the SSU’s investigation, the court seized the property of Oksana Marchenko, suspected of financing russian occupation groupings.

The total value of the seized assets is over UAH 5.6 bln (USD 140 mln).

The court decision concerns stakes of 14% each in two regional power distribution companies and over 4% in the third, which Marchenko owns through five offshore companies.

Two land plots, 4 residential buildings in Kyiv and Crimea and 10 cars belonging to the suspect were also seized.

In addition, the court arrested Marchenko’s assets in 18 investment, agricultural, telecommunications and other companies.

Among them are the Kyiv-based companies Terra-Invest, Ukrkapital and Sport-Tour, which Medvedchuk’s wife used to conduct subversive activities against Ukraine.

These entities founded the company under the russian laws, through which Marchenko transferred millions to the accounts of the russian guard and the russian ministry of internal affairs in the occupied Crimea and paid ‘taxes’ to the russian budget.

Earlier, SSU investigators notified Oksana Marchenko and the head of an affiliated Crimean company of suspicion under the Article 110-2.3 of the CCU (financing actions committed with the aim of forceful change or overthrow of constitutional order or seizure of state power, change of boundaries of the territory or the state border of Ukraine).

The top manager of Ukrkapital and Sport-Tour has now been served a notice of suspicion under the same article.

The suspect was detained; the court chose custody as a measure of restraint.

The crime of which Marchenko and managers of the involved companies are suspected is punishable by imprisonment with confiscation of property. The seizure of assets will ensure the possibility of such confiscation by court order and protect the property from re-registration to other persons.

The investigation is ongoing to bring to justice all persons involved in the criminal schemes.

The operational and investigative activities were carried out by the SSU Office in Ivano-Frankivsk region under the supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
