Following SSU’s investigation, putin’s party ‘watchdog’, who oversaw sham referendum in Kherson region, under suspicion

The SSU has collected evidence on the sanctioned russian state duma member Oleksandr Sidyakin, who is facilitating russia’s armed aggression in Ukraine.

The official is the chairman of the central executive committee and deputy secretary of the general council of putin’s united russia party, and is therefore close to the aggressor state’s leadership.

On the kremlin’s instructions, Sidyakin was in the then-occupied Kherson from 23 to 27 September 2022.

There, he personally coordinated russia’s sham referendum on the region’s ‘accession’ to russia.

Heading the so-called ‘supervisory mission’, Sidyakin tried to give the fake plebiscite a veneer of legitimacy for the international community.

To do this, the russian MP gave numerous interviews and comments to kremlin TV channels and online publications aimed at Western audiences.

To ensure the ‘desired’ results of the pseudo-vote, the russian official checked the occupation ‘election commissions’ and controlled the vote rigging.

The SSU-initiated examinations confirmed the facts of the suspect’s subversive activities against Ukraine.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified Sidyakin of suspicion in absentia under Article 110.3 of the CCU (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability).

As the perpetrator is in russia, comprehensive efforts are underway to bring him to justice.

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
