Following SSU and SBI investigation, UAH 400 mln property of Medvedchuk and Kozak brothers transferred to state control

Following the investigation by the Security Service and the State Bureau of Investigation, the court seized additional assets of the brothers of former MPs Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak.

These include land, corporate rights, property complexes and vehicles of four companies in Lviv, in particular a concrete batching plant and a construction company.

The total value of the blocked property is almost UAH 400 mln (UDS 9.7 mln).

The relevant assets were transferred to the National Agency for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA).

As a result, the state will receive over 10,000 m² of real estate and more than 70 vehicles and construction equipment from the companies of Serhii Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak.

In June this year, law enforcement officers exposed both brothers of the former MPs on large-scale financial fraud.

According to the investigation, the suspects used controlled companies to embezzle funds by evading taxes to the state budget of Ukraine.

Serhii Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak were notified of suspicion in absentia under Article 212.3 of the CCU (tax evasion).

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU and the SBI, the first seizure of the suspects' property worth over UAH 200 mln (USD 4.8 mln) was made.

Both offenders are currently hiding abroad. The investigation is ongoing to bring them to justice.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Lviv region jointly with the SBI under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
