Over 1 ton of smuggled heroin burned, following SSU investigation (video)

These days, more than 1 ton of heroin was burned in Ukraine. The SSU confiscated it from smugglers in January 2021.

At black market prices at the time of the discovery, the value of the drugs was more than UAH 2.3 bln (USD 55 mln).

The narcotics were seized following the verdict of Zaliznychnyi District Court of Lviv.

In 2021, the SSU conducted a long-lasting multi-stage special operation and documented a transnational organized criminal group.

Four suspects were apprehended in Lviv: one of the organizers of drug trafficking and three foreigners who packaged drugs in rented warehouses.

As a result of the investigation, the law enforcement found 1035 kg of heroin prepared for transportation.

It is known that the heroin was on the way from Pakistan in transit through Ukraine to the European Union, hidden in a container among food.

After the SSU’s investigation, all the detained persons have been convicted of smuggling drugs on a particularly large scale. They are already serving prison terms under Articles 305.3, 307.3 of the CCU.
