Address of SSU Head Ivan Bakanov on occasion of SSU’s 30th anniversary
Dear Ukrainians! Dear colleagues!
Today, the Security Service of Ukraine is 30. It is symbolic that this date is on the 30th day of the war.
The war that divided our lives into ‘before’ and ‘after’, brought a lot of grief and challenges. But, alongside that, it gave us confidence that we will overcome them. It showed how much we love Ukraine and what sacrifices we are ready to make for it.
In 30 years, the SSU gained invaluable experience, and it is time to use it.
From the first minutes of the war, the SSU rose to defend the country together with the military, our partner agencies and volunteers. There is no area where the SSU is not involved - from combat zone to humanitarian aid to those who need it.
Officers of the SSU, in particular the Center for Special Operations ‘A’, are destroying the enemy and capturing occupiers.
Counterintelligence and National Statehood Protection Departments regularly detain Russian agents, saboteurs, and collaborators.
The SSU investigators are recording the enemy’s crimes and opening criminal proceedings.
Cybersecurity experts repel hacker and information attacks, pressure the aggressor’s infrastructure, and help collect data on movement of the enemy’s equipment, its sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
Systemic work is underway. It is not always public, but it is extremely effective.
Thank you so much for your service! I know that in today’s conditions you are giving not 100, but 1000%. Doing your best to bring peace to our country as soon as possible!
Unfortunately, it is impossible to avoid losses in a war. And officers of the SSU have been added to the list of Heroes we recently lost.
We will remember each of them! And we will do everything to ensure that their names are forever inscribed in golden letters in the chronicles of the Great Ukrainian Victory!
Together we will defeat the enemy and rebuild Ukraine!
The Truth and God are with us!
Glory to Ukraine!
Respectfully,
Head of the Security Service of Ukraine
Ivan Bakanov
