Tymur Hetmanskyi was born on January 18, 1985 in the village of Stepove, Slovianoserbskyi district, Luhansk region. He graduated from the Juridical Personnel Training Institute for the Security Service of Ukraine of the Yaroslav Mudrui National University in Kharkiv in 2007.

Since July 2002, he held the positions of operative and senior operative at particularly important facilities in the Security Service of Ukraine.

On October 25, 2014, Major Hetmansky was shot dead by representatives of illegal armed groups of the so-called Luhansk People's Republic. At that time, the militants searched for and detained in the temporarily occupied territories Ukrainian patriots, former and current law enforcement officers, who remained faithful to their military oaths.

Tymur is survived by his wife and little daughter.
