Employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime in conjunction with the SBU Office in Lviv region blocked the activities of group that organized the smuggling of large consignments of drug-containing substances from Europe.

Offenders purchased in a neighboring country precursors for manufacture of psychotropic substances and their pushing in Ukraine. According to intelligence, monthly drug traffickers imported 300,000 tablets with pseudo-ephedrine content. They synthesized psychotropic substances in drug labs located in Kyiv, Rivne, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Offenders pushed drugs through one of the messengers all over the country.

Law-enforcement officers detained one of the co-organizers of drug smuggling at “Hrushiv” checkpoint at the attempt to import more than 100 thousand of drug-containing tablets. Forbidden "product", he hid in the technological cavities of the vehicle. The cost of the seized substances on the “black market” is valued at over UAH 4,000,000.

In the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated under part 3 Art. 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the detainee was served a suspicion note.

The investigations are ongoing.

The operation was conducted jointly with the State Customs and Border Guard Services, under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
