Ivan Bakanov briefs National Security Defence Council of Ukraine on the investigation of "UIA” plane crash

SBU Chairman Ivan Bakanov informed the representatives of the bodies of security and defence sector on the investigation of the circumstances of the “UIA” plane crash in Iran during a meeting in the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.

NSDC of Ukraine Secretary reported that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with Ukrainian expert group and thanked them for their work.

Ivan Bakanov briefed the meeting participants on the working results of Ukrainian expert group, established in the Service. As previously reported in the statement of the SBU Chairman, the Iranian side confirmed one of two key versions of Ukrainian investigation.

First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Serhii Yarovyi said that experts of the MIA of Ukraine and the National Police investigators collected DNA samples from relatives of the victims and sent this morning electronic DNA formula to Ukrainian experts working at the site of the tragedy in Tehran. Currently Ukraine expects from Iranian side identification and repatriation of bodies to Kyiv.

According to First Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Vitaliy Kasko, the work on the qualification of criminal acts that led to the tragedy is under way. During meeting participants also discussed that now Ukrainian experts are working on decoding the information contained in the "black boxes" of Boeing 737 PS 752 flight. NSDC of Ukraine Secretary stressed that the public will be promptly provided information on the investigation of the plane crash.
