SBU blocked in Ivano-Frankivsk intrusion to the retailers of counterfeit alcohol and tobacco products to the value of UAH 1.3 million.

Operatives of the special service found that several local residents ordered counterfeit excise goods from underground producers of neighbouring regions. For storage of counterfeit they rented a premise on the outskirts of the regional center. They sold counterfeit to small shops and catering facilities of the region.

Law-enforcement officers detained four involved persons while transferring to underground warehouse of more than 5 tons of alcohol of dubious quality.

During searches in place of counterfeit storage location counterfeit alcoholic beverages and tobacco products were detected.

Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art. 28, Part 2 Art. 199 and Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the investigations are continuing.

The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
