SBU identifies persons who sent threats to the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv city
SBU identified persons who by e-mail sent threats to the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv city on behalf of local journalists.
Operatives of the special service have determined that threats were carried out by two residents of Lviv city engaged in manufacturing of illegal Polish documents for nationals of Ukraine. They executed to customers “Pole’s Card" on the basis of false certificates on the participation of nationals of Ukraine in the activity of organizations of the Polish national minority.
After publication in the local media materials exposing illegal mechanism attackers decided to revenge to journalist. They registered email account from which the Consulate General and Polish community of Lviv city began to receive threats allegedly on behalf of the author of journalistic investigations.
During searches conducted in residence of involved persons, the law-enforcement officers found a notebook, mobile phone, bank cards and over EUR 30 thousand. In the notebook of offenders, the SBU officers found evidence that this notebook was used for sending a mail on behalf of journalist, with threats directed against the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland. On the PC new mails with threats were stored, in particular against Consul of the Republic of Poland in Lviv city.
The investigative actions on bringing to the criminal responsibility other offenders involved in the unlawful actions under Part 2 Article 129 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are under way.
The searches were conducted jointly with the Main Directorate of the National Police under the procedural supervision of Lviv local Prosecutor's Office
