SBU Main Directorate for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime officers detained corrupt prosecutor of one of the local Prosecutor’s Offices of Kharkiv city.

Operatives of the special service documented that the prosecutor, supporting the state prosecution, extorted USD 10,000 from the person involved in the case. In this amount, the prosecutor assessed “solving of the issue” on choosing for a suspect a non-custodial punishment for infliction of serious bodily injury. He then agreed to reduce the amount to USD 3,500.

Law enforcement officers detained the prosecutor in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in one of the public catering establishments of Kharkiv city during receiving the next part of improper advantage amounting to USD 2,700.

In the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated under part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the investigations are under way.

The operation was conducted jointly with the State Bureau of Investigations Central Office investigators under the procedural supervision of the General Inspection of the Prosecutor General’s Office with the engagement of the SBU CSO “A”.
