SBU uncovered appropriation of the state budget funds by the heads of one of the Departments of Odesa Regional State Administration through the communal enterprise of the Regional Council.

The operatives and investigators of the special service found that the officials appropriated almost UAH 1.6 million during the procurement of goods for the needs of the department. State funds were moved out in the "shadow" through a number of sham cashless transactions by controlled commercial structures, as well as public organizations and charitable foundations. The deal was implemented with the involved officials of one of the communal enterprises of the Regional Council of Odesa region.

During searches, conducted by the SBU officers in the offices of officials and in their residences the law enforcement officers seized documentation, proving the illegal activities of the involved persons.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Odesa region.
