SBU Main Directorate for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime officers exposed First Deputy Head of Operative Unit of the Main Directorate of the State Fiscal Service in Poltava region on obtaining improper advantage.

Operatives of the special service found that the Colonel of tax police extorted and obtained from the private entrepreneur USD 85 thousand for the returning of seized property and non-bringing to criminal responsibility for tax evasion. The official involved his friend as intermediary in his illegal activity.

Law enforcement officers detained both intruders according to Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on receiving the entire amount of bribe in Poltava city.

Within the framework of a criminal proceeding initiated under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the investigations are ongoing.

Currently other individuals involved in the unlawful actions are being identified.

The measures to detect the offenders were conducted jointly with the State Bureau of Investigation Territorial Office in Poltava city, under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kharkiv region.
