SBU blocked in Rivne unlawful activity of the organized group, engaged in the sale of dangerous poisonous substance – metallic mercury in especially big amount.

SBU CI officers established that three offenders, including a former employee of the prosecutor's office, organized illegal mercury sales. Dealers sold toxic “goods” in bulk in different regions of Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers detained two group members in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine near bus station in Rivne while attempting to sell 56 kg of mercury.  For the "goods" offenders planned to get over half a million of hryvnias.

Within the framework of initiated criminal proceedings under Part 4 Art. 321 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the investigations are under way, particularly in the territory of other regions. The sources of especially dangerous poisonous substance origin are being established. The operation to terminate illegal activities was conducted with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Rivne region.
