SBU Sectoral State Archive presented the collection "Crimean Tatar National Movement in 1917 – 1920 on Archives of Communist Special Services» in “Ukrinform” Ukrainian National News Agency.

The event was attended by the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Cubarov, Doctor of historical sciences professor Stanislav Kulchytskyi, the head of the State Archive Service of Ukraine Anatoliy Hromov, representatives of state institutions and NGOs, scientists.

“This edition contains previously unknown or not available to the general public and experts information about one of the key periods in the history of the Crimean Tatar People – the national movement in the period of wars and revolutions of 1917 – 1920", – said the SBU Archive Director Andriy Kohut.

Structurally, the book consists of two parts, a historical excursion and collections of archival documents. Thus, declassified materials from the “Milliy-Firqa" case and especially the Protocols of the Investigative commission of the Crimean Tatar Parliament with information about the victims among the local population and material losses in the result of Bolshevics seizure of power in the Crimea deserve special attention. It is not difficult to draw parallels with current events and the situation on the temporarily annexed peninsula.

“The translations of four Protocols of the National Constitutive Meeting and the first Qurultay of December 1917 made by the chekists also will be interesting for the readers. The originals of these materials remained in the Crimea “, - said Andriy Kohut.

In this context, the author of the historical and analytical part of the book and scientific comments on documents and co-author of the edition Andriy Ivanets emphasized that important role to highlight the transformation of indigenous in Crimea the Crimean Tatar People in ethno-nation in 1917 – 1920 have documents of repressive authorities of the USSR. "For Ukrainian scientists it is difficult, and sometimes impossible to get access to them in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and in Russia. However, due to the processes of decommunization such documents can be studied in archives on the free territory of Ukraine ", – stressed the scientist.

The collection is the result of joint and hard work of the SBU SSA specialists, Scientific Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Center for Research of the liberation movement with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
