Suspicion notices are served to members of organized group, exposed by SBU on sale of weapons in JFO area

SBU investigation helped to complete the prejudicial inquiry on organized group, specialized in the sale of military destruction means in the JFO area. 

It was established that the group consisted of two contract servicemen and their accomplice – a resident of Luhansk region. The attackers were engaged in large-scale illegal sale of weapons and ammunition in the region, stolen from military units.

SBU documented the facts of sale by the persons involved in the proceedings 22 RPG-22 and RPG-26 grenade launchers, 600 grams of trotyl, 40 RGD-5 and F-1 grenades, over 5,000 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber and 31 explosive devices for grenades.

Operatives of the special service detained the group members at the beginning of last August near Sievierodonetsk during the next attempt to sell weapons.

Currently three involved persons have been served notices of suspicion of committing the crimes stipulated by Part 3 Art. 28, and Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction under this article envisages seven years of imprisonment. Measures to block activities of a group were conducted in cooperation with the National Police, the Department of State Guard, the military service of the law enforcement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the procedural supervision of the Military Prosecutor’s Office of Luhansk garrison.
