Lviv region: SBU Counter-intelligence blocks illegal transit of armored vehicles components through Ukraine
SBU Counter-intelligence officers blocked illegal transition of military and dual-use goods subject to mandatory export control through the state in Lviv.
SBU operatives and investigators established that a private entrepreneur from Lviv and a citizen of the European Union set up the illegal mechanism. The perpetrators were illegally importing military equipment from one of the post-Soviet countries for sale abroad. The illegally imported goods were stored in warehouses in Lviv. According to intelligence, the components were intended for countries in service with military equipment of the Soviet model.
Within the criminal proceedings under Part 1 Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, law enforcement conducted a series of searches at places of storage of military goods and seized contraband equipment (engines, shock absorbers, and generators for armored vehicles, balances to BMP-1 and BMP-2, electronic tank systems, etc.).
The investigative actions are under way.
Measures to block the illicit mechanism took place under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Lviv region.
