SBU detains former militant of "Pryzrak" terrorist organization

SBU Military Counter-intelligence officers detained former militant of the "Pryzrak" terrorist organization.

SBU operatives established that a resident of the Bakhmut region was serving a penalty for theft in one of the prisons in Donetsk region. After his ejection, the man joined the DNR terrorists in June 2014. The militants assigned him to pull “combat duty” at checkpoints near the city Siversk.

After the settlement was liberated by the anti-terrorist operation forces he escaped from the militants  in the summer 2014 and for a long time was hiding in Russia. At the end of last year the man returned to the Donetsk region territory controlled by Ukraine. In January 2020 he was identified and detained by the SBU counter-intelligence officers.    

Within the pre-trial investigation former militant have been served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime stipulated by Part 1 Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Bakhmut Police Department and the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Donetsk region.
