The operatives of the SBU Main Directorate of Internal Security exposed in Zhytomyr a businessman on offering bribes to head one of the structural subdivisions of the SBU Regional Office.

The special service officers established that Kyiv businessman planned to set up illegal legalization of foreigners in Ukraine through migration bodies of Zhytomyr region. On behalf of foreign charitable foundations, he sent an invitation to visit our country to citizens of countries with increased terrorist activity. Offender promised foreigners guaranteed obtaining of residence permits of our state on the basis of forged data.

For covering of unlawful business, offender proposed to head of one of the units of the SBU Office in Zhytomyr region regularly receive improper advantage. Free issuing of permits for temporary residence of one foreigner in the territory of Ukraine the businessman estimated in UAH 1 thousand. According to preliminary data, every month he planned to legalize several dozens of foreign citizens.

SBU officer immediately informed the leadership about receiving of the unlawful proposal. Within initiated criminal proceeding law enforcement officers detained the offender in one of Zhytomyr cafés near the building of the SBU Regional Office on the attempt to transfer the bribe.

The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the involved persons under Part 3 Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being decided.

The investigations are ongoing.

The operation was conducted by officers of the SBU Office in Zhytomyr region and investigators of the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of Zhytomyr region.
