A businessman from Luhansk region, exposed by the SBU on the trespass against the territorial integrity and inviolability of our state is sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment in absentia.

In May 2014 the local entrepreneur took an active part in organization and carrying out in Popasna a pseudo-referendum on the so-called "independence of LNR". The offender selected candidates of representatives of the “polling commissions", coordinated their activities and delivered ballot papers. At meetings he called for separation of Luhansk region from Ukraine. Operatives of the special service documented the facts of offender’s illegal activity.

After the liberation of Popasna by the ATO forces he escaped to the temporarily occupied Luhansk, where he held the position of the “assistant to the deputy of parliament" of the so-called “LNR".

Novoaidarskyi district court found the offender’s guilty of committing the crime under Part 2 Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. 

The sentence would start from the day of his arrest.  

Pre-trial investigation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office.
