SBU blocked in Volyn region intrusion to the retail network of counterfeit tobacco products to the value of UAH 500 thousand.

Operatives of the special service have found that resident of Kovel plans to set up illegal sales of wholesale quantities of counterfeit cigarettes, of one of the neighboring countries manufacturing on the territory of the region. The dealer intended constantly receive “goods” from abroad and to sell to owners of small retail outlets.

Law enforcement officers stopped the truck of the offender in Lyubomlskyi district of the region. During the inspection of the vehicle over 13.5 thousand packs of cigarettes of foreign origin, without marks of excise duty were detected.

A similar scheme was blocked in Kovelskyi district. This time, 10 thousand packs of counterfeit cigarettes worth over UAH 400 thousand were detected in the car of the offender.

In the framework of criminal proceeding initiated under Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the investigations are continuing to establish all circumstances of illegal activities. Measures to counteract illegal turnover of excise goods were conducted with the Main Directorate of the State Fiscal Service, the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's office of the region.
