The Security Service of Ukraine exposed the underground production and sale of large batches of dangerous to the life and health of citizens counterfeit excisable goods.

A resident of one of the villages of Ovidiopolskyi district organized in his own household the workshop for the production of counterfeit alcohol. He produced counterfeit from raw materials of dubious quality in the unsanitary conditions. He sold finished goods in retail facilities of the region.

During searches in the workshop the law enforcement officers seized more than 3 tons of spirit of unknown origin, ready for sale surrogate, food flavours, dyes and package. Also in the basement of the building the equipment for the production of counterfeit alcohol was detected.

According to intelligence, officials of local units of controlling bodies are involved in illegal activity, in particular, in smuggling of alcohol to Ukraine. Within the initiated criminal proceedings under Part. 2 Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring to justice those involved in unlawful activities. Measures to expose and block illegal activities were conducted with the support of the State Border Guard Service under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of Odesa region.
