SBU in cooperation with the administration of the Ministry of Finance prevented misappropriation of natural gas, being at the disposal of the Ministry and designed for the state entities.

SBU Main Directorate of Counter-Intelligence Protection of the Economic State's Interests established that offenders used forged documents allegedly signed by a Deputy Minister of Finance. Fake documents allowed them to conduct operations on the communication platform of JSC “Ukrtransgaz” and to thieve 43,6 million cubic meters of natural gas.

Joint operation helped to stop the theft and to prevent state losses amounting to UAH 250 million (USD 10 million).

“We are grateful to the Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova and colleagues from the Ministry of Finance for their assistance, cooperation and constructive attitude to detection of offenders,” - the SBU Head Ivan Bakanov emphasized.

The urgent investigative actions are under way within the initiated criminal proceeding.
