SBU prevented unlawful deal that created conditions to destabilize functioning of the critical infrastructure facility of the United Energy System of the state.

Operatives of the special service have established that during July-December 2019 representatives of the general services providers submitted invalid data to the “Guaranteed Buyer” state-owned enterprise. The dealers artificially overstated the volume of consumption of electricity by the population, that was supplied at discounted prices.  

Received "excess" of cheap electricity suppliers sold to entrepreneurs at the market price. The unlawful mechanism allowed to obtain them excess profits by means of inflicting losses to the “Guaranteed Buyer" state-owned enterprise in the amount of over UAH 2.8 billion.

As a result of the operational response, the SBU Main Directorate of Counter-intelligence Protection of State Interests in the sphere of Economic Security with the National Commission for State Regulation in the spheres of Energy and Utilities and the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine, the unlawful mechanism is blocked. At present, suppliers have fully acknowledged the amount of claims and started compensation of losses to the “Guaranteed Buyer” state-owned enterprise.
