SBU in Kyiv prevented supply of ethyl alcohol of unknown origin to small retail units.

The special service operatives received information about illegal smuggling in Kyiv of the wholesale consignment of excisable goods. During the inspection of the truck in one of the warehouses of Obolonskyi district law enforcement officers found 17 tons of counterfeit alcohol. 5 residents from different regions of Ukraine accompanied goods.

According to intelligence, dealers have tried to sell products through small outlets on forged documents. The cost of goods is almost UAH 900 thousand.

Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art. 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the examination of detected counterfeit alcohol is being planned. Currently other individuals involved in the unlawful actions are being identified. The operation was conducted with the Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv city and investigators of the capital police.
