SBU officers suspect the head of the state-owned enterprise "Volyn Military Forestry" of the misappropriation of funds in especially big amount on deals with the wood.

According to the investigation, official organized illegal business with subordinates and private entrepreneurs who collaborated with the forestry. According to contract the dealers provided services of forest harvesting for the state-owned enterprise. In fact, the workers of forestry and local residents who received a minimum salary in cash, but not staff employees of contractors were engaged in providing services.

Instead the forestry paid for the services in full measure through non-cash transactions. The "saved" money dealers converted through the sham companies into cash and misappropriated. Operatives of the special service found that only for the period from October 2019 to February 2020 UAH 2 million of public funds were transferred to the accounts of companies affiliated with the participants of the transactions. Law enforcement officers detained two employees of forestry and a private entrepreneur in Manevychi village during the “sharing" of almost UAH 500 thousand, which were withdrew from accounts.

Investigations are ongoing in the framework of criminal proceeding initiated under Part 5 Art. 191, Part 2 Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for bringing all persons involved in committing the illegal activity to the criminal responsibility. The operation to expose and detain offenders was conducted with the National Police investigators under the procedural guidance of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
