Ivano-Frankivsk region: SBU terminates activities of drug lab

SBU blocked in Kalush (Ivano-Frankivsk region) activities of powerful drug lab on the production of amphetamine and detained the organizer of illegal business.

Operatives of the special service have received information that the local resident, previously convicted for illegal drug trafficking, organized production and sale through dealers of wholesale consignments of amphetamine. According to intelligence, "production" capacity provided approximately 40% of the black market of psychotropics in the region.

SBU established the location of the drug lab in the garage cooperative and detained its owner, according to Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, during the transportation of the consignment of psychotropics. Almost 450 grams of amphetamine and 350 “Subutex" tablets with buprenorphine content were detected in the vehicle of the offender.

During searches law enforcement officers seized 85 kilograms of fenilnitropropen, which is enough for the production of amphetamine in the amount of almost UAH 15 million. Besides almost 45 kilograms of marijuana, two “Scorpion" machine guns, two “Makarov” and “Browning” guns, laboratory equipment were also seized. 

Within the framework of criminal proceeding initiated under Part 3 Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the investigations are under way. Documentation of illegal activities was conducted with the Main Directorate of the National Police under the procedural guidance of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
