SBU blocked in Kirovohrad region the scheme of misappropriation of public funds allocated for the needs of the structural subdivisions of the “Odesa Railways” regional branch.

According to the investigation, the head of the contractor during the conclusion of the contract for the technical re-equipment of the building of Znamianka wagon depot artificially inflated the cost of consumable materials. For this purpose he entered false information to the acts of provided services. The amount of relevant public expenditures was agreed with officials of structural subdivisions of the regional branch.

According to preliminary information, baseless overstatement of prices caused losses to Ukrzaliznytsia in the amount of almost UAH 600 thousand. The director of the contractor was served a notice of suspicion under Part 5 Art. 191 and Part 2 Art. 366, the senior engineer of the rolling-stock service - under Part 2 Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigative and operative actions on establishing and bringing to criminal responsibility other offenders involved in the illegal activities are under way. The operation was conducted with the Police under the procedural supervision of Znamianka local Prosecutor’s Office of Kirovohrad region.
