SBU Office in Poltava exposed a lawyer suspected in receiving illegal financial gain.

Investigators established that the lawyer extorted money from a resident of regional centre, who provided legal services. For USD 10,000 he promised the colleague to “shield” him from criminal liability for the alleged provision of advocation without legal education.

Law enforcement detained the suspect in one of the restaurants of the regional centre when he received the whole amount of bribe.  

The detainee was filed charges in committing the crime stipulated by Part 3 Article 369-2 (“Abuse of authority or office”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the General Prosecutor's Office of Poltava region jointly with the Territorial Office of the State Bureau of Investigations in Poltava city.
