The Security Service of Ukraine initiated the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceeding upon the fact of shelling of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, conducted by Russian-led terrorist groups in Luhansk region on February 18, 2020. 

SBU investigators established, that about six o'clock in the morning the occupants started shelling of the positions of the Joint Forces Operation units near the settlements of Orikhove, Novotoshkivske, Krymske and Khutir Vilnyi in Lugansk region. Militants attacked Ukrainian military units’ positions with the heavy arms prohibited by the Minsk Agreements. Militia also made an attempt of breaking through the contact line. One Ukrainian serviceman killed, five injured as a result of the fires by the illegal armed formations. All circumstances of the attack are being established by the investigation.

The criminal proceeding under Part 3 Article 110 (“Trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine”) and Part 5 Article 260 (“Creation of unlawful paramilitary or armed formations”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is investigated under the supervision of Prosecutor’s Office of Luhansk region.
