Odesa: SBU prevents illegal sale of weaponry from the Joint Operations area (video)

In Odesa SBU uncovered and blocked illicit sale of weaponry transported from the Joint Operations area.

According to the previous version of investigation, a resident of regional center organized illegal transportation of arms and ammunition from the Joint Operations area. The offender received weaponry from the accomplices via postal service. He remodeled outdated weapon spares into combat. He searched for clients in specialized Internet forums and proposed his goods.

Law enforcement officers detained the offender near a postal office in Odesa after receiving over 200 rounds for firearms, and fuzes for hand grenades.

During the searches in offender’s residence SBU found two mortar shells of different caliber, four Kalashnikov rifles, land mine, 15 different grenades and eight pistols.

SBU officers also seized the Mosin’s rifle, a tube for RPG grenade launcher, magazines for small arms, device and instruments for manufacturing ammo, and various components for firearms.

SBU sent weaponry for examination.

The issue of serving to the offender a notice of suspicion of committing a crime stipulated by Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is now being settled.

Investigative actions are ongoing in order to establish all circumstances and to bring other persons involved in illegal activity to criminal responsibility.

 Operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under legal supervision of Prosecutor’s Office.
