Security Service of Ukraine detained a deputy chief of one of the departments of the Main Directorate of the State Fiscal Service in the Khmelnytskyi region, involved in receiving illegal financial gain.

According to the investigation, the official extorted money from a businessman. For USD 20,000 the suspect “guaranteed” him to facilitate in closing criminal proceeding, initiated for avoidance of payment of taxes.

Law enforcement officers detained him in regional centre when he received the entire amount of bribe.     

The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the detainee and choosing for him a type of detention is being decided. Investigative actions aiming to find other persons engaged in the crime are ongoing within the framework of the criminal proceeding.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Department of State Bureau of Investigations in Khmelnytsky under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
