The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine uncovered and terminated illegal activities of the National Police officials from several regions suspected of extortion funds from the participants in criminal proceedings.

According to the preliminary investigation, adviser to the head of the National Police of Dnipropetrovsk region and the head of the prevention sector of one of the district police units of Zaporizhia region established a scheme of extortion illegal benefits from persons involved into illegal appropriation of citizens’ property. The adviser has been detained in Zaporizhia city during receiving from the wife of one of the black realtors of USD 3700 – a part of the conditioned bribe, for not to bring charges against her husband. At the same time the head of sector has been detained in Prymorsk.

Within the framework of a criminal proceeding initiated under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the issue of serving to the detainees notices of suspicion and choosing a measure of restraint is being settled. In order to identify other episodes of illegal activity the investigative actions are ongoing. The operation was conducted by the investigators of the State Bureau of Investigations Territorial Administration in Melitopol city under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Zaporizhia region.
