Lviv region: SBU blocks smuggling of goods valued at UAH 1,7 million into Ukraine

Within the framework of countering shadow economy and combating smuggling flows, the officers of the SBU Office in Lviv region prevented three facts of smuggling in our country of goods of European producers valued at UAH 1.7 million.

The special service operatives have received information that several international carriers are planning illegally move across the state border different groups of goods from Europe.

Thus, during the inspection of the truck at the “Krakivets-Korchova” checkpoint the law enforcement officers have detected under 22 tons of nitrate salt 100 boxes with undeclared clothing valued at almost UAH 1 million.

At the same checkpoint law enforcement officers prevented smuggling of new components for vehicles. The resident of Lviv region hid the spare parts in the cabin and the luggage compartment of eight imported vehicles. According to preliminary estimates, the cost of the undeclared cargo comprises UAH 200 thousand.

The law enforcement officers prevented food stuffs smuggling at the Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne checkpoint. The resident of Volyn region hid the goods valued at UAH half a million in building materials. We recall that in accordance with the national law the offence envisages imposing a fine in the amount of 200 percent of the value of goods with confiscation of illegal cargo and vehicle. The operation was conducted with Halytska Customs of the State Customs Service.
