The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine uncovered inspector of Chernivtsi border detachment on obtaining improper advantage.

According to the previous investigation, a serviceman demanded and received EUR 1.5 thousand from a local resident. For this amount, the inspector promised man to assist in illegally moving outside the checkpoints of tobacco products from one of the European countries.

The law enforcement officers detained the offender on receiving EUR 1 thousand - the second part of the bribe.

Within the framework of a criminal proceeding initiated under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the offender was served a notice of suspicion. The investigations are ongoing. All circumstances of the case and other facts of possible involvement of official into smuggling of goods across the state border are being established. The operation was conducted by the officers of the SBU Office in Chernivtsi region with the State Investigations Bureau Territorial Administration located in Khmelnytskyi city under the procedural supervision of the Military Prosecutor’s Office of Chernivtsi garrison.
