The Security Service of Ukraine disclosed the fact of misappropriation of hundreds of hectares of Kyiv community lands with the assistance of the former leadership of the Main Directorate of the state Geocadastre in Kyiv and a number of communal enterprises that inflicted losses to community amounting to almost UAH 800 million.

According to the investigation, the aforementioned officials in 2016-2019 contributed to the illegal withdrawal of land plots in Obolonskyi, Desnianskyi and Darnytskyi districts of Kyiv with a total area of 377 hectares from communal property. According to preliminary information, plots illegally reissued for the use by individuals for further resale for the building. Due to prompt response of the SBU officers, the organizers of the deal did not manage to transfer most of the property to covers.

Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine a number of searches in the offices of the state institutions and at the places of residence of involved persons were conducted. During the investigative actions, law enforcement officers seized the documentation that became the basis for the illegal reissuing of plots, electronic data carriers, containing important data for the pre-trial investigation. The examination is ongoing for the establishment of the full size of the state losses due to illegal activities of officials. The measures on returning the illegally alienated land plots in the state property are continuing. The operation was conducted by the officers of the SBU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region in cooperation with the investigators of the SBU Main Investigative Department under the procedural supervision of the Office of Prosecutor General.
