Rivne city: SBU uncovers serviceman on sale of Russian manufacture ammo

SBU uncovered a deputy platoon commander of a military unit in Rivne garrison on sale of ammo and psychotropic substances.

Allegedly, the sergeant tried to sell illegally the rounds for firearms and methamphetamine. He used personal connections in the regional center for searching the clients.

Law enforcement officers detained the offender near his residence on the illegal sale of 300 rounds of 7,62 mm calibre and 50 doses of psychotropic substances of Russian manufacture.  The offender planned to receive UAH 20,000 (circa USD 770) for the goods.

The detainee received a notice of suspicion of illegal handling of weapons, ammunition and explosives and illegal production, making, purchasing, storage, transportation, sending or sale of narcotics, psychotropic substances or their analogues.

The investigation is ongoing in order to establish all circumstances of the crime, in particular, the illegal supply of ammo of foreign origin, and to bring to justice other persons involved in the illegal activity.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Police investigators under the legal supervision of the Military Prosecutor's Office of Rivne garrison.
