Luhansk region: SBU stops trafficking of grenade launchers and large-calibre machine guns from JFO area
The Security Service of Ukraine stopped trafficking of weapons and ammo arsenal from the Joint Forces Operation area.
Allegedly, members of the organized group tried to illegally transfer the military munitions from the JFO area to other regions of our country.
The law enforcement detained two suspects at the checkpoint on Lysychanck-Bahmut motorway when they were illegally transferring the weapons in their minibus. During inspection of the vehicle, SBU officers found three RPG-7 light antitank weapons, NSV machine gun (12,7 mm “Utyos”), six PK machine guns and RPK. Also they seized circa 3,000 ammo of different calibre.
The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the detainees and choosing a form of detention is now being decided.
The investigators are identifying all circumstances of the case and bringing to the criminal responsibility other involved persons in the framework of the criminal proceeding under Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The operation was conducted jointly with police under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
