SBU exposed misappropriation of almost UAH 800,000 budget funds, allocated for reconstruction of a water intake structure in Zaporizzhya region.

Allegedly, the head of a village community and CEO of a regional construction company are involved in the illegal scheme. According to the contract, which was concluded in 2018, the construction company was to carry out reconstruction worth UAH 3.3 million (USD 130,000). It is established, that 1/4 of the above sum conspirators appropriated by entering false data about volumes and cost of the provided services into the completion certificates. 

According to the construction experts’ opinion, part of the services, provided for in the contract, was carried out only “on paper”, and for now the water facility is being in a critical condition.

During the searches of the suspect’s office and residence, the law enforcement seized financial documents confirming his fraudulent deal.

The CEO of the construction company was served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation and forgery in office (P. 5 Art. 191, P. 1 Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The notice of suspicion to the head of the village community is being prepared.

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the details of the case.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police investigators under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
