Sumy region: SBU discloses misappropriation of UAH 2 million (USD 54,000,000)
The Security Service of Ukraine exposed the large-scale misappropriation of state funds for the construction of primary health care centers in Sumy region.
Allegedly, in 2018 the Department of Capital Construction of Sumy Regional State Administration signed a contract with the Kyiv construction company on developing and manufacturing the projects for 12 rural ambulatories in several areas of the region. It is established, that the sum of UAH 2,000,000 (USD 54,000,000) was transferred to the contractor and appropriated by the involved persons of the same year.
According to the SBU technical and construction experts’ opinion, the documents were forged and its further use was impossible.
The CEO of the construction company was served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation of property on an especially large scale and official forgery (Part 5 Art. 191 and Part 1 Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigative actions are ongoing to establish all persons involved in the fraud.
The operation was carried out jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Sumy region.
