SBU exposed the official of the Kaniv Forestry SE on receiving a bribe for illegal sale of timber.

Allegedly, the suspect set up a scheme for illegal logging and sale of fine timber. The official undercharged the cost of the timber and sold it without relevant contracts.

The suspect demanded almost UAH 100,000 (USD 3,600) for illegal shipment of more than 70 cubic metres of pine from the representative of a private company.

The law enforcement officers detained the suspect when he received another part of bribe according to Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The issue of serving the offender a notice of suspicion under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and choosing form of detention are now being decided.

The investigative actions are ongoing to bring to justice all persons involved in the fraud.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigation under the supervision of Kyiv Local Prosecutor's Office.
