SBU tackles those who spread fake news about coronavirus

SBU blocks the activity of individuals, spreading fake news about COVID19 situation in Ukraine.

SBU cybersecurity notes that due to implementation of security measures against spreading of coronavirus, separatist agitators became more active.

Using the situation, the agitators push the panic and protest moods among the people, try to discredit the governmental authorities, call for braking the constitutional order and forcible federalization.

The law enforcement blocked the activity of an Internet-agitator in Odesa. The suspect was spreading fake news about the coronavirus, and on top of that he posted calls for changing the territorial boundaries and national borders of Ukraine, - which is punished according to the Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The detainee was served a notice of suspicion, the form of detention is being chosen.

During the last several days SBU and National Police took administrative measure against another 5 individuals for manipulations and attempts to destabilize the situation in Chernivtsi and Luhansk regions.

Apart from that, SBU records presence of various destructive communities on different platforms, as well as fake news in pro-Russian media. The measures are being taken to block their activity and to bring the agents provocateurs to justice.

We repeatedly ask the citizens to resist provocations, not to trust and spread information from unreliable sources. The actual information on coronavirus situation is displayed on official cites of Ministry of Health of Ukraine and other state bodies.
