SBU exposed on money extortion an official of district branch of DTEK Kyiv Grids PJSC.

Allegedly, an engineer of technical audit unit systematically extorted money from a gas-station owner. For UAH 8,000 (USD 300) per month, the suspect promised not to cut the electricity for so-called violation of electric network operation.

The victim was to transfer money into the suspect’s relative bank card.

The law enforcement detained the suspect at his office after receiving another monthly “tribute” from the businessman.

The issue of serving the detainee a notice of suspicion of taking a bribe (P. 4 Art. 368-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) is being decided.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Kyiv Local Prosecution Office No.7.
