SBU exposed and stopped a smuggling scheme of wholesale batches of lumber.

Allegedly, a local businessman set up a channel of illegal lumber export to the EU.  The smuggler used forged invoices for tax registration procedure.

During 2019-2020 the suspect has smuggled lumber worth circa UAH 2,500,000 (USD 96,000).

The law enforcement stopped a truck with a batch of smuggling materials, when it was passing the “Uzhhorod” customs checkpoint with forged documents. The detected goods worth over UAH 100,000 (USD 3,500).

The investigation is ongoing under Art.201-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Prosecutor’s Office of Zakarpattya region.
