Ministry of Justice top official is accused of extortion
Exposed by SBU top official of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine was served a notice of suspicion of bribe-taking.
The head of Western Interregional Department on execution of criminal sentences and probation was caught red-handed. Allegedly, the official extorted and received bribes from heads of subordinate bodies every month. For money, the official promised not to inspect the compliance with the prison regime and not to administer financial and economic activities of the subordinate bodies.
The suspect is accused of taking a bribe by an official (P. 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The article provides for up to ten years in prison.
The operation was conducted by the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine, SBU Office in Volyn region, jointly with detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Internal security unit of Department on execution of criminal sentences, as well as the Ministry of Justice authorities.
