SBU continues to expose fakers disseminating information about coronavirus. As of last week, 38 people were identified. SBU officers provided the National Police with all information to apply administrative influence to them.

Meanwhile, several persons violated the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Today, SBU offices stopped the activity of an agitprop in Dnipro, who was mentored by Russia and published misleading information on social networks about COVID-19 statistics in Ukraine.

Also, he called for a violation of the constitutional order and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He received such tasks from a Russian mentor.

In order to spread fear, the offender had to take photos and make videos with empty shelves in shops, with queues to drugstored, to record the work of special vehicles and law enforcement. Subsequently, Russian planned to use these inputs in order to prepare fake news.

This agitprop spread a video with brawl in public transport, as a passenger allegedly coughed and had symptoms of COVID-19. Yesterday the SBU refuted this information.

During the searches at offender’s residence the law enforcement officers found computers and mobiles proving illegal activity.

The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the offender is being settled within the criminal proceeding initiated for trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.

We remind that is not the first case that the SBU stops the activity of “cyber activists”, who receive tasks from Russia to destabilize the situation in Ukraine. Recently, the SBU stopped activity of an agitprop in Odessa.
