The Security Service of Ukraine exposed the official of Cherkasy representative office of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport on the systematic bribes.

Allegedly, a suspect demanded money from the owners of the water transport. For different sums the official "guaranteed" the citizens for not creating artificial obstacles in registration of surface vehicles.

Law enforcement officers detained the offender in the regional center according to Art.208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine after receiving the second part of the bribe.

Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 Art.368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the offender is being resolved.

The urgent investigative and operative actions are ongoing to establish and bring to justice other persons involved in the unlawful activity.

The operation was carried out jointly with the police under the procedural guidance of the Cherkasy Local Prosecutor's Office.
